European PR confederation relaunched
The European PR
Confederation (CERP) - which includes all the major national public
relations associations in Europe - was relaunched at a meeting of 13
associations, hosted by CIPR in London on 4 March.
Margaretha Sjöberg, Director
General of the Swedish Public Relations Association, was elected
President. A new board including Gianfrancesco Rizzuti of FERPI, Italy
as Vice-President and Colin Farrington (Director General of CIPR) as
Secretary General was also elected.
CERP will now focus, as the
European arm of the Global Alliance of Public Relations and
Communication Management, on intra-European issues. The first task is to
respond to the European Commission’s White Paper on a European
Communications Policy.
Margaretha Sjöberg said,
"I’m delighted to take over as president of CERP in what are exciting
times for communicators in Europe.
"CERP can now provide
national associations with a collective voice at the European level. Our
first task will be to obtain feedback at a national level on the White
Paper on a European Communication Policy and ensure that the Commission
has proper professional advice on its plans." |
